What is Fully Alive?
It is an online cohort, with a softcover workbook mailed to you, which we work through together, with me facilitating the conversation. Over weekly Zoom calls, we will go through the workbook, one section at a time. Each section has group questions and questions for reflection on your own.
So, There Is a Workbook?
Yep. I created a 44-page workbook that covers five themes and four tasks to help reframe one’s faith practice and understanding. These topics, which I have taught at the college and seminary levels, have proven helpful paradigm shifts. Once you sign up, I will mail you a signed copy with a note before our first session.
How Many People Are in Each Cohort?
8 people (at most) plus John.
How Long is Fully Alive?
9 weeks.
How Long is Each Session?
1 hour, with a 30-minute optional time for extra discussion.
How rigorous is Fully Alive?
This cohort is designed to take you further than the usual church education. I have taught some of these topics at the college and seminary levels.
Who is Fully Alive for?
This cohort is designed for self-motivated people who want to upgrade their understanding of Christian spirituality and praxis, integrate new insights, and begin a deepening transformation journey. It also works well with curious minds who want to reconstruct their faith in a way that helps them thrive.
Winter 2025/2026 Cohort: Dates are TBD.

Testimonials
Being part of the Fully Alive group was an amazing experience. John is a gifted spiritual teacher and he led us through conversations that totally expanded my understanding of what a faith based on a “living spirituality” could mean for me going forward. After every session, I took away learnings that I would often weave into conversations with family and friends. John inspired me to see that all of us in the “second half” of our faith journey should aspire to being “wise elders” in the spiritual development of our younger generations seeking their own North Stars during these challenging times.

I participated in John’s Fully Alive in the spring of 2025. This class gave me an opportunity to explore my spirituality in an atmosphere where there were not right / wrong answers. The study text was easy to follow, and provided a good framework for deeper thinking. Overall, I came away from the class with a deeper understanding of my own spirituality, and how I intend to live in this absurd and beautiful World.
