What’s Another Word for Parable? is the first book I ever wrote. It is a collection of 60 parables that I wrote over the course of about a year and a half. The parables take the form of the fantastical, the adventurous, the absurd, and the Biblical. Each parable is short, witty, and full of wisdom. In addition to that, each parable includes a “potential interpretation” and what inspired each parable to be written.
This is a great book for the beach, car rides, for a group of friends, a small group, or just for fun.

This devotional pays close attention to echoes of figures and themes between the Hebrew Scriptures and the Greek New Testament. Each day includes a selected passage of Scripture, a reflection, and a prayer, often highlighting a classic figure from church history. Special attention is given to the themes of Deserts, Gardens, the Beatitudes, the Woes, theophanies, Biblical foreshadowing and callbacks, Creation week, and Holy Week.

Breadcrumbs: Reflections on a Reconstructed Faith is a collection of reflections, essays, and short musings on individual aspects of life and faith that caused me to grow. Rather than give up and stagnate, I sought to do the hard work of challenging myself to think, feel, live, and be better. Many of those “upgrades” made it into this collection. Perhaps something from this can help you to continue to grow as well.

The Wonderstanding of Father Simeon is in the form of a dialogue.
It is another August day in Philly with the usual summer heat and hurry… From around the corner saunters Father Simeon, a hairy and wild desert monk, who drags an empty dog leash, throws peanuts at people while yelling, “BLESS YOU!” and houses a King Beetle in his scraggly beard. Turns out, Father Simeon was on a walk to the marketplace and accidentally time-traveled to the corner of 4th and Le Point Vierge just a few blocks from Center City. Is his story true, or is it the fabrication of a madman?
Perpetually in wonder at everything, Father Simeon strikes up a conversation with Joel outside a coffee shop. Joel is a young man, hard on his luck, struggling with cynicism, and trying to figure out how to navigate the essentials of life, community, emotions, reconciliation, love, simplicity, materialism and so much more.

The Way of Holy Foolishness explores what faith could look like today in our modern world. Rather than building around doctrines or dogmas, what if the faith were nestled and nurtured by twelve guiding principles, much like a rule of life from St. Benedict of Nursia?
