This is the onboarding website for the Philadelphia region chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society!

Here’s How We’ll Meet:

Each month, we will meet over Zoom, with plans to do an in-person event each Fall and Spring.

When?

First Tuesday of each month at 7-8pm.

How Much?

Zoom Calls will stay FREE.  In-person events will request a donation when they occur.

What is the Plan?

We will be reading through New Seeds of Contemplation chapter by chapter.

• Aug. 5th – Ch. 1 – What is Contemplation? 
• Sept. 2nd – Ch. 2 – What Contemplation is Not 
• Oct. 7th – Ch. 3 – Seeds of Contemplation
• Nov. 4th – Ch. 4 – Everything that Is, Is Holy
• Dec. 2nd – Ch. 5 – Things in Their Identity

Who is Heading This Chapter?

My name is John Chaffee (MDiv/ThM), and I have over 20 years of experience working in the church.  In 2019, I visited Our Lady of Gethsemani Abbey, and I have been a long-time fan of Merton. Once we get a little further along in re-booting the chapter we will branch out to a small team for leadership decisions.
